Three of the best ways to make a bold statement in a cloakroom

As regular readers will know, at Stone and Chrome we believe that small can be beautiful. And this is especially true for your downstairs cloakroom.

It can be easy to overlook the importance of your cloakroom, and give more attention to creating the perfect bathroom or ensuite. But in reality, the downstairs cloakroom is the bathroom that most probably gets used the most during the day. And is certainly the bathroom that all your visitors will see.

So it is definitely worth making sure that your downstairs cloakroom is just as fresh and appealing as any other bathroom in your home. And the good news is, even if your cloakroom is small, that doesn’t mean it has to be bland. You can really use a cloakroom to make a style statement and bring a smile to peoples’ faces when they use it.

Let’s look at three factors that can help you to make a bold statement in a cloakroom.

Colour

The image below is actually a section of a larger bathroom, but could work equally well in a cloakroom. In particular, we want to draw your attention to the wonderful amazonas grey riven slate tiling.

Many people shy away from using dark colours in a cloakroom, thinking that it may make the room too dark. But as you can see, this grey colour – particularly when combined with the large mirror – works really well. The mirror picks up the wooden drawer of the cabinet, perfectly topped off with the elegant counter top basin.

And if you want full-blown colour, then how about this quirky cloakroom featuring bright wallpaper and an industrial style counter top basin and taps.

Shapes

Whilst the design of the stunning cloakroom pictured below is simple and classic, it is given an extra design twist by the beautifully shaped counter top basin, housed on a stylish wooden cabinet.

Together with the wall hung WC, this cloakroom is incredibly economical in terms of space, whilst at the same time being super elegant and stylish.

If you prefer a basin on a stand, you can still make a bold statement with the shape. The stunning Laufen Palomba Menhir basin pictured below is traditional in the sense of being a basin on a stand, but the tapered shape and smooth finish make it a chic designer statement.

Textures

At Stone and Chrome we are all about textures! We particularly love to use natural stone in our bathrooms. Its distinctive and timeless appearance will bring joy for years to come.

For example, in one of our bathroom installations we created a bespoke Travertine stone surface to house the undermounted bowls for a warm and elegant look.

But textures can be playful as well as classic, as shown in the stunning cloakroom pictured below. The split face tile and backlit mirror provide the perfect backdrop to the featured  Vitra Water Jewels chrome bowl, creating something beautiful yet very different.

We hope that the above ideas have inspired you to start planning how to make a bold statement in your own cloakroom. If you are ready to take the next step in making it happen, then why not visit Stone and Chrome’s Camberley showroom to see how we can help?
