The creative world is reeling from the unexpected death this week of the legendary David Bowie. We therefore thought it would be fitting to revisit a previous blog that was inspired by Bowie: Sound and Vision.
Don’t You Wonder Sometimes…
… about Sound and Vision? Eerily prescient words from the David Bowie song of 1977, when the technology that we take for granted in this day and age was just an elusive dream. Interestingly, Bowie describes sound and vision as a gift, and why not view it in that very same way in terms of related bathroom accessories? Who would have imagined the increasingly wide range of enticing products available today to enhance our bathroom experience.
Safe and Sound
Let’s look at sound first of all. You are surrounded by sound all day long so what better to take control of that in your bathroom! There are now bespoke remote controlled sound systems designed specially for bathrooms. You can surround yourself with your favourite music whilst relaxing in the bath or shower. Top quality sound is provided through ceiling mounted speakers with the facility to support inbuilt DAB radio, and there are options to connect devices such as ipods, iPhones and iPads through either bluetooth or docking station. These staggering technological developments can seem somewhat implausible to those concerned about electrical products in bathrooms! But be reassured that safety measures have developed in tandem with technology and all is well. All you need to do is lie back and enjoy 🙂

I realise that the concept of sound and vision in the bathroom may be as new to you as it was to me when I became involved in the bathroom design industry. But on reflection it makes total sense. Just imagine you are going away for an indulgent weekend at a country house hotel. One of the scenarios that you may well envisage is soaking in a warm fragrant bath with either lovely music surrounding you or a programme of your choice playing where you might at least be able to glimpse it through the mirror? Add into the mix a glass of something chilled and sparkling and the picture is complete. So if that is a scenario that you could replicate at home whenever you chose just think how much enjoyment and pleasure it would bring! A real gift . . . .
. . . . which brings us back to the immortal words of Mr Bowie –

Drifting into my solitude, over my head”
